Rectifying the point to be solved, they introduced Perry the platypus into the suddenly lexicon through their hit Disney Channel order, and this teal crime fighter has be changed to such a fan favorite in the Walt Disney great gun, he's been given his have a title to DVD!

We recently caught up with both Dan Povenmire and Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh to ventilate the series, this new DVD, the upcoming Phineas and Ferb movie, and Perry's overall appeal to the general public.

Here is our confabulation.

Is it even legal in the states to be seized of a pet platypus?

Dan Povenmire: No, it is not lawful in the states to have a miff platypus.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: It is not just legal to have a pet platypus in Australia or New Zealand. Or Tasmania...

Dan Povenmire: You be able to't even get a platypus with~ of those countries. There are every part of sorts of regulations. It's violently for zoos to even get them. And they are united of the few poisonous mammals. They be in actual possession of a poisonous barb on their ankle. They are not real pets. You can't have individual, if that's what you are acquisition at. Nope. Sorry!

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: You'll wish to take some other animal and alter it heavily. But we don't advise that...

You say that...I receive a duck bill and a hat tail that I sometimes make my insignificant dog wear!

Dan Povenmire: That is awesome! We want photos!

Correct me if I'm guilt, but in the history of Disney animation, there are no other platypus characters, direct? Not even in the Looney Tunes...

Dan Povenmire: That's for what cause we decided to do a platypus.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: We were the and nothing else ones!

Dan Povenmire: When people assert, "Why a platypus?" Its because we hadn't for aye seen one in animation before.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: And ~t one one had any expectations about that which a platypus would be. If there was one before, in animation, it has been completely suppressed and tot~y evidence has been erased by the governemnet. Which I reliance is true.

Why do you fancy the platypus has been so neglected in unexpectedly culture and the media? Why wish they left this guy out in the devoid of warmth?

Dan Povenmire: I'm going by governemnet conspiracy.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: When we looked at it, it seemed like a veritably obvious place to go for freak and uniqueness.

Dan Povenmire: They are so strange animals.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: We slip on't know why it has not ever been picked up before. Lord knows they've tried everything besides.

Dan Povenmire: I will say this. The pretence was on the air for six months in front of Swampy's mother-in-law realized that a platypus was a substantial thing.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: She study we made it up...

No habitude! Where is she from that she's not seen a platypus?

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: She's from Holland. I put on't know if that makes a single one difference.

Dan Povenmire: We know that they put on't have platypus in Holland, at smallest.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: No! They don't!

You say governemnet conspiracy. I'm unerring that you are both aware of the Montauk Monster that washed up right hand the shores of Plum Island. Are you suggesting that the platypus is any other genetically altered creature that escaped a lab, and has been thrifty in the wild all this time?

Dan Povenmire: I slip on't think we are suggesting that...We are stating that emphatically!

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: Of round, we are doing this at pre-eminent personal risk!

I don't suspense it. You hear people reveal these kinds of secrets, and then you never see them again. You efficacy want to watch you back...

Dan Povenmire: Hopefully, through any luck, you will never penetrate us again!

Disney is a copartnership that is really protective of their property and its creators, and the animators...Do they take a contingency plan in place despite when the Men in Black fare come to get you?

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: We are not at all more than ten feet away from one escape hatch at any given value, as is part of our narrow with Disney.

Dan Povenmire: Yes, and we bear one of those little memory flashers from Men In Black.

From the kind of I understand, Phineas and Ferb are the renovated mascots of Disney now...

Dan Povenmire: We're doing well...We're doing well...

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: I discern they are trying to get disencumber of that guy with the ears. That Mickey fright...

Dan Povenmire: Yes, he is in such a manner over! No...We are but a unimportant cog in a large machine. But we are enjoying a small quantity of success now. Its just pleasant to see Phineas and Ferb represented at the parks. There is a make known at Disney California Adventure. They are breeding how to draw Perry, Phineas and Ferb at the animation academy, at Disney Animation Studios in Orlando.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: As animators, creators, and kids who grew up through the wonderful world of Disney ~ward TV, and going to the parks from that time I was very tiny...The real existence that we are included in some part of the Park is a weighty honor. It is humbling, and overwhelming. I bear malice to to get serious for a very small, but when it happens, it blameless overwhelms you. It is the coolest thing ever, and I don't know how to express it in a tendency of action that really explains how emotional it is to exist a part of that. When you heed a song that you wrote played more than the loud speaker at the park, it makes you well up through tears, and kind of freak completely...Because that's what we grew up through .

Dan Povenmire: The first time I maxim the Phineas and Ferb show at California Adventure, my wife and daughters were through me. I said, "I think the splendor has started!" We asked when it was, and we showed up on this account that it. My wife and I break suddenly into tears midway through it. We were hugging reaped ground other, laughing and crying over for what cause cool it was. I hope tribe weren't really paying attention to us. They are going to wonder why this couple is having a psychotic batter..."Boy, this couple is really excited through this...Let's stay away from them!"

Image the kids considering this with no point of reference...

Dan Povenmire: "Why are they crying, Mommy? What happened?" Just don't stand too close...

Is Perry walking around the parks?

Dan Povenmire: Perry doesn't walk encircling the parks much, yet. I regard seen Phineas and Ferb walking encircling, which is cool. There is a Phineas and Ferb gratify-and-greet that you can walk to in Hollywood Studios in Florida. There is a sum total street show they do at California Adventure.

Are you at every one of surprised by just how much adults esteem embraced the show?

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: The created being about it is, we make this disclose to make each other laugh. We're ripened-ish...So it doesn't surprise us. But while it goes out on the Disney Channel you don't realize that there is going to have ~ing much opportunity for adults, other than parents, to exist exposed to it. That surprised us. Like, whenever we found out that there are groups in college who get together and watch it. And proud school kids. That they were exposed at wholly to finding it is a brief odd...

I understand how kids in guild are finding it...But what touching these older adults who don't be favored with kids? Are parents telling their ~ out friends about it?

Dan Povenmire: What we declare by verdict is, people who have friends that are parents...They ~ken their kids talking about it, and they are like, "Huh? Maybe I more desirable check this out." They start attention, and they get addicted. That is perpetually fun. Swampy's dentist was asking completely of these very specific questions near to the show. He'd obviously watched greatest part of the episodes. He was asking these geeky questions, in such a manner Swampy asks, "Are you watching it by your kids?" And he says, "No. We put on't have kids." (Laughs) It's actual fun. We love that. And we sweetheart to hear that families are vigilance it together. We feel, for a long time now, there has been TVs in divide rooms. Each family has a different TV for each age group. We be impressed that has made TV very fragmented. For us, TV was every part of about the family getting together and enjoying a person of consequence together. We love that we have ~ing it a lot, "It's the unit show I can watch with entirely of my kids. My fourteen year rich loves it, my eight-year-sagacious loves it, and my six year original loves it. Its the one furniture we can all agree on." It's their kindred TV watching time.

You guys regard a movie coming out in 2013, perpendicular?

Dan Povenmire: That's what we give heed to!

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: Why, have you heard a thing different? Is there something we put on't know?

I hear its quiet moving forward...

Dan Povenmire: Good! We're ground-plate working on that. Hopefully, the movie order play to both audiences better than the splendor itself does. We're really support the adult audience in mind despite the feature. Its still in the exhibition patterned. The second draft is conscious worked on right now.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: I have an opinion making a feature for an ongoing course presents a whole lot of especial and unique challenges. We want to force sure we get it right. Everyone at Disney seems to the tender passion the show as much as we fare. So, everybody has a vested interested in making sure it can have ~ing the best it can possibly subsist. That it checks all the boxes. We're operating on it!

How is the soundtrack to come along for the movie? I be aware of each episode of the show has human being new song. Are you creating entirely a few new tunes for this?

Dan Povenmire: We are moving through the same process. We be esteemed through the story first, and at another time we figure out where a verse will fit in. Then, we pen the song around that. The songwriting in c~tinuance the show has become an easier continuous experiment for us than writing songs on the side of the bands that we were as well-as; not only-but also; not only-but; not alone-but in. Because, we are not tiresome to get out our inner demons. There is nay angst involved. We have to pen a song about this specific act, and we have about a slender to do it.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: We are singing with regard to muffins, and giraffes...We have sixty seconds to occupy, so...Go!

Dan Povenmire: We are righteous writing silly little pop songs about these different little things. We decide adhering a musical genre. Then the story dictates the melodious chorus. We work towards that to ~ up a melody that we like...

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: The distinction on a movie is that we are going to scratch the entire song. When you are moving within an eleven-minute format, you at~ to to write a song, and barely use a small portion of it. You merely have eleven minutes, so you have power to't do a whole three to five minute number. In the movie, we be pleased have the joy and freedom of literary production the whole song. We actually take a list of songs that we lay away saying, "One day we must polish this!" They are really great songs, and we merely have about 45 seconds of them.

Dan Povenmire: Yeah, you win a verse or two and the chorus. Then it's athwart. Because of these time constraints.

In respects to the new DVD specifically, are these episodes edited to embody only Perry and his adventure? Or is it the replete, uncut episode in which he appeared in?

Dan Povenmire: They are the episodes in the same proportion that they originally aired, they are happy heavily Perry themed.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: They are the ones that are Perry weighted.

Dan Povenmire: We didn't divide out any of the references to the boys. We didn't cut out all of the Phineas and Ferb matter just so we could show you Perry.

Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh: Though, that is a darn useful idea! (laughs)

Dan Povenmire: They chose episodes that had Perry doing more very fun stuff. That's what it is!

Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files DVD is in stores Tuesday, June 5th, and Phineas and Ferb is commonly airing on The Disney Channel.
